New Website!

Hello everyone!  I have exciting news here.  My very own website is up and running now.  The Green Belle Shop by Shelly Rose has been created and is ready for you.

Hand made chenille baby blanket with satin edge.

Everything listed is hand made by me and I'll be adding more items daily/weekly.  It takes a long time to add pictures and descriptions for everything I have!  Who would have thought!

Tie tee and onsie in groovy guitars.  How adorable are these?!
Take a look if you'd like and make sure you check back often, especially the very end of each month.  That's when I add ready to ship SALE items!

The Penelope Scarf--Skinny and Long with a hint of sparkle.

***This post was written by me--Shelly--not by son.  For some reason I have his name on my picture.  He has his own blog but this is not it.  I'm going to try to figure it out but for now...

Gaming~The Nintendo 3DS

Friday's Guest post by Blin Cook (my 8 year old son)

*Side note:  Blin plays soccer, football, and baseball.  He loves to ride his bike and go outside to play.  His game playing is limited and he does not get to play it all day long.:)

~I supplied some questions to get him started in italics.  His words are regular.  He will be mainly talking about the Nintendo 3DS and other Nintendo DS systems.

When did you start gaming?
I started playing games when I was 3 years old.  I got my game for Christmas from my Papa who is my mom's dad.  It was kind of hard at first but my mom helped me out.  My dad's cousin Anthony helped me too.  The game was Drawn to Life for the Nintendo DS.  He helped me draw good pictures.

What was your first game system?
My first game system was the Nintendo DS.  It was black.  My black DS broke because I kept on dropping it.  You should be careful with a DS because it breaks easily, I know!  My friend's DSi XL doesn't break as easily because he has dropped it in the snow and spilled soda on it.  He even hit it a lot because he got mad at the game.  He has had his game for about 2 months to a year.

What did you like about it?
I like my DS because it was cool and the games were exciting.  My favorite game was Drawn to Life and Zelda.  Since I was only 3 and 4 years old my mom helped me because I didn't know how to do it or read and when I learned how to do it, it was cool and exciting.

What would you change?
I would want to make the DS bigger and more exciting to play with it.  When I didn't do the game right I got frustrated so I kept on trying even though I got mad.

What made you buy the 3DS?
I bought the 3DS because it was in 3D and you could play 3D games on it and the games were exciting, cool, and awesome because they were new to me and had new things I have never seen in new games and good pictures (graphics).  One game had a hang glider and the game is Mario Kart 7.

Who bought the 3DS for you?
I bought the 3DS for myself so I could try out the 3DS games and it was cool.

How did you save up that much money and was it hard?
I saved up my money by doing chores and from my birthday's, the tooth fairy, and Easter.  It was hard to save up that much money.

What do you like about the 3DS?
I like it because it's in 3D and there are cool games and the games are exciting.

What don't you like about the 3DS?
I don't really like the 3D when it is on all the way.  To change the 3D you can slide the switch to make it 3D or not 3D.  I usually leave the switch almost to the bottom so I don't get a lot of 3D.

What is your favorite game and why?
My favorite game is Star Wars.  I like it because there's ghost people and they never die.

Anything else you would like to talk about?
I play with my friends by hooking them up (wirelessly).  I play with my friends on the bus with my DS, at my house, and their houses.  I like to take it on trips too.  The 3DS games are white and a little bigger so you can't use them in the regular DS systems but you can use the regular DS games in the 3DS.

Thanks for reading my first blog.  I'll blog again but not really sure what'll it'll be about but it might be about something exciting, really exciting.

Wednesday Market Day

Market Day! YEH!

Some Wool Dryer Balls that I'm working on today--before I go to the market:).

Today is Wednesday and that means it's Market Day here in the Big Valley.  Yeh!  I love the market.  Fresh produce, fresh bread (all local), and fresh woopie pies for the kids:).    I love going to the market, did I mention how much I love the market?  Every Wednesday the kids and I (I have 3--ages 3-8) get ready mid morning and go to the market.  We all love it and it's a fun and easy way to educate my kids.

This year I am going to be freezing and canning a bunch of summer produce, hopefully enough to last the winter.  I'm going to freeze some veggies, like green beans and corn and also a bunch of tomatoes.  I love using frozen tomatoes for chili and red sauces as they un thaw mushy and perfect for cooking down.  If I get crazy I will make a bunch of salsa and chili.  Our valley is perfect for growing peppers and I can get bushels of several varieties of peppers, from every color of bell pepper some hotter spicier jalapeƱos.  I love, love, love peppers and I can make a pretty mean and tasty salsa, much better than store bought of course:).  When I make it this summer I'll post pics and my secret recipe!  There is also a lot of local honey sold here, yummy!

Maybe next year when my kids get older I'll start selling some dryer balls and other items their.  This year I think my youngest is TOO young to sit there with me and my oldest two are still too young to stay home by themselves.  That's ok, it gives me a year to build up stock with out stressing about it.

So that's not all that I'm doing today.  Since I just made breakfast for the little ones, I know have time (after writing this blog) to start a batch of dryer balls--it is quite a lengthy process--and get some ruffles sewn for a diaper cover.  THEN the market, lunch, sew 2 diaper covers, and hopefully a baby romper for a pattern test!  Whew!  That's it, oops nope, dinner...and then my son's baseball game.  Should be a fun and great day, especially since it's going to be a perfect sunny mid 70's kind of day.

Have I mentioned that I love the weather?  That's a whole other topic and blog though:).

Have a great day everyone!

Until later (and hopefully sooner),

Shelly

Rainbow Blanket

Here is my lovely rainbow blanket that I made over the holidays and gave away. I have more yarn to make another...just have to find the time!

~Shelly~

New items in the works...of course they're made of wool!

I've been a bad girl in the world of my blog...I'm sorry I love to write. But I guess I am a very fickle writer. Some months I'll write everyday...hundreds of words...then nothing for months. I'm like that with books too!

Anyways back to the subject. I have new wool products in the works! Still making a ton of dryer balls and I have 3 retailers so far. Such a fun and exciting way to start the new year. Well when I don't have any pending orders, or when some balls are felting I take out my crochet hook (never learned to knit...want to though!) and just start something. Sometimes it is a baby blanket...I have a pink and white cotton one 1/2 finished...or right now I'm obsessed with chunky lamb's wool blend cowls. They are so soft and I have a few sizes available already.

The other thing I love to crochet though it takes forever as there are soooo many little tiny stitches is a long simple scarf made out of the gorgeous mini mochi sock yarn. Yes, sock yarn for a scarf! It has the most beautiful blending of colors to stripe the scarf and it is a soft wool. Love it, perfect to lead you into spring as it is lightweight.

Well, with that I'll leave you...hopefully not for months and months again~
